Power Posing

Anytime I meet someone new, or I have something important to do, I can hear my mother’s voice in the back of my head and it sounds a lot like “Stand up straight! Don’t slouch – push your should blades together…” and I do. Now I try to bring in some of my mindful yoga practices and not only do I “stand straight” like mom says to, but I strike an mountain pose and try to feel grounded or mindful. Not only may mom have been right all those years but now it looks like psychology is backing her – posture matters. Check out social psychologist Amy Cuddy in her fantastic TED Talk
